My Personal Journey towards greater Self-Compassion and Healing.

I am a qualified Cognitive Hypnotherapist and Certified Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming. You can view my registrations by searching my name on the National Council for Hypnotherapy and Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council respective websites.

Qualifying in hypnotherapy was an invaluable part of my journey. I first had hypnotherapy myself in my early 20s and was blown away by the positive impact it had on me.

At school, I was bullied for having an eating disorder, an illness that nearly had me hospitalised and had me miss a year of education due to being on bed rest to fully recover.

In my 20s I was diagnosed with both ADHD and a mood disorder, giving me access to life-changing stabilising medications and enabling me to lead a fully functional life.

I now work to help others free themselves from emotional scars of old, find clarity and seek to lead a more fulfilling life.

Disordered Eating

When it comes to our relationship to food, there are some holier than thou saints who sit perfectly in the moderate, healthy middle. But many of us veer to one extreme or the other. Either too much or too little. Stress and difficult emotions can be triggers.

Just like your relationships with those around you vary day to day and over the years, perhaps veering between closeness and being not so close, good times and bad times, our relationship to food is also malleable and open to change.

Emotional Dysregulation and Impulsivity

A tree needs strong, sturdy roots in order for it to weather the storm brewing above ground. In order to weather external pressures, expectations, criticisms and life's ups and downs, we need a strong sense of self.  Do you feel blown around too much by life's triggers and everyday stressors? Do you feel a loss of control in terms of your reactions? Are you self medicating with impulsive behaviour to cope and try to feel better?

Cognitive Hypnotherapy can help you gain better control of emotional states and feel more confident and secure in your sense of self

Comparing yourself to others, not feeling good enough and lacking in confidence

Unfortunately we live in a world that encourages comparison, framed as healthy competition. But when does healthy competition cross the line into unhealth comparison territory?

The companies we work for are constantly comparing themselves to competitors. Awards are given out based on who secured the most sales or who performed the best. Social media hammers us with the glamourous-looking lives of others. Consumption thrives off our innate desire to want to 'do better'.

But sometimes the most worthwhile thing to do is to step back from the rat race and give yourself some love and appreciation for who you are and how far you have come.
